Saturday 6th January 2007

Brenda and Paul Edward's Ruby Wedding Anniversary Party.

Royal Naval Association Club - Gosport - Hampshire

1900 hours until 2300 hours.

Private Function

This was another night that most other entertainers can only ever hope to dream of.  There were so many people in our audience from previous bookings that ensured a full and fun filled night was had by all.  A special thank you to Stuart, Liz, Dave, Margaret and of course both Brenda and Paul x x x x

Saturday 13th January 2007

Golden Oldies Night

The Crofton Club

Stubbington Hampshire.

2000 hours until 2330 hours.

Everybody Welcome

As this was our first professional visit to a Working mans club for many many years we were understandably concerned.  Our concern melted away when we entered the venue to see the average age of our audience was 60 plus.  Both the audience and ourselves had a really lovely night and we know a rebooking is on the cards.

 Friday 26th January 2007

Havant British Legion - Brockhampton Lane - Havant  - Hampshire

Surprise 70th Birthday for Barbara

19:00 until 23:30

Private Function

A very nice respectful family gathering that ended far too soon.  With the exception of Barbara, (the birthday Girl), and her husband, the average age of our audience was about 30 years old.  Under normal circumstances this could have been catastrophic for us but all of the family knew exactly what Barbara wanted and so they made sure she had a really fantastic SURPRISE 70th Birthday party.  Barbara enjoyed herself so much that she is hiring us to do her Wedding Anniversary Party later this year

Saturday 17th February 2007

Kempston Rotary Club 1960's to 1970's Themed Fancy Dress Charity Evening

at

The Addison Centre - Howard Park - Kempston - Bedfordshire

Everybody Welcome

Once again a really fabulous night that both Nikki and I will remember for may years to come.  Even our exhaust pipe falling off half way up the M25 couldn't take away the fact that Kempston Rotary Club's functions are a joy to behold.  Paul and Mary Barnes, the organisers, have go it right 100% in the way they do things.  By that we mean they book the entertainment and then let the entertainment get on and entertain as they know best without any interference.  Thank you Paul and Mary for the gig's, your friendship and finally for the way that you look after us during our short stay away from home in your home town.

Saturday 24th February 2007

Southampton Park Hotel - Southampton - Hampshire

Celebration Party for the Provincial Grand Master, The Right Worshipful Bro. Nigel John Buckingham and Mrs Sue Buckingham.

Private Function

Pure Heaven - No More No Less.  As always, whenever it is a Masonic function, we could do no wrong.  We had many kind comments about the choice of Songs/Tunes we supplied and also how pleasant it was that they could talk without having to strain trying to hear what their partner's were saying.  All in all yet another very successful evening for all concerned.

Saturday 17th March 2007

St Peter's Lodge 9182 Ladies Night

Bordon Masonic Centre - Bordon - Hampshire

1930 hours until 2359 hours

Private Function

This was one of our regular Masonic functions and, as always, things went extremely well.  It was a pleasure working with Howard, the Professional Master of Ceremonies who held the whole evening together as only a true professional can do.  Our thanks also to Peter James and his Colleague Charles Bailey, and of course their lovely Ladies Jo and Brenda, who seem to be in the audience at 99.99% of any Masonic function we attend.  If only all of our functions could contain such lovely respectful people as to be found at Masonic do's.... If only!!!

Ah well, it's nice to dream.

Saturday 31st March 2007

Retirement and 65th Birthday Party for Stuart Pearce Esq.

The Botley Grange Hotel, Grange Road, Botley,

Nr. Southampton, Hampshire

Private Function

Now and again a gig comes along where we ask ourselves "Have these people sitting in front of us ever ventured out in the real world before this evening?"  Tonight was one of those nights.
Although we got a big thank you and a tip at the end of our performance, we left the excellent venue still perplexed as to why no none made the effort to get up and dance.  You will get a rough idea of our problem when we say not one person moved to dance or even to join in and sing when we played "Is This The Way To Amarillo"!!!!!!

Saturday 14th April 2007

Surprise 80th Birthday for ???

Hunston Village Hall - Hunston - West Sussex

1900 hours until 2300 hours

Private Function

A Very Hot evening meant that the dancing was at a minimum but the tapping of the feet and the singing from our fabulous audience told us that we were doing our job right, as usual.  A lovely Family with lovely friends and guests.

Saturday 21st April 2007

Pear tree Lodge No 7954 Ladies Festival Evening

Botley Masonic Centre

1930 hours until 2330 hours

Private Function

Another Very Hot evening which again kept the dancing to a minimum but, as always at Botley Masonic Hall, we had a mind blowingly good night with our audience joining in and leaving the venue with huge smiles.

 Saturday 12th May 2007

Woolmer Forest Lodge Ladies Night

Bordon Masonic Centre - Bordon - Hampshire

1930 hours until 2359 hours

Private Function

Mind blowing, that's all we can say about this Gig - Mind Blowing!

Nikki attended St Mary's Hospital for an Hysterectomy on May 18th 2007.
Understandably, to ensure she made a full and speedy recovery,
we were unable to take any Bookings between May 17th and June 29th 2007.

The update to the above is that Nikki has made a full and speedy recovery and
is back on stage with a vengance!

 Saturday 30th June 2007

Southwick Park Golf Club - Southwick - Hampshire

Southwick Park Golf Club's Annual Summer Ball

Sixties theme night featuring "Ready Steady Go"

1930hrs 'till 0030hrs

Private Function

What a brilliant evening this turned out to be.   Working with a Live Band is always a pleasure, but to be supporting the top sixties Tribute band " Ready Steady Go", was an experience that will stay with us for a very long time

Saturday 21st July 2007

Pat Wells 60th Birthday Party

Marconi Sports and Social Club - Portsmouth Hampshire

Private Function

Working for the second time for a lovely family who used to live across the road from Phil, it was a foregone conclusion that the evening was going to be a complete success.  And that is just what it was.

Saturday 18th August 2007

Durley Carnival Dance

Durley Memorial Hall, Durley, Nr Southampton, Hampshire

2000hrs until 2359hrs

Everybody Welcome

When the organiser of the above event telephoned us to say only 30 tickets had been sold we were, understandably a tad worried.  Not only for him but for how the evening was going to be for us as Entertainers.  We had no need whatsoever to worry about a thing as the few people there (approximately 50) were absolutely the most perfect audience an Entertainer could wish for.

Saturday 25th August 2007

"Horizons"

Havant Leisure Centre

60th Birthday and Retirement Party for Colin Dridge

1930hrs until 2330hrs

Private Function

A lovely Venue, lovely Staff and an even lovelier Audience.

Saturday 15th September 2007

Royal Court Hotel Coventry

20:00 'till 01:00

Fleet Air Arm Field Gun Association 2007 re-union

Private Function

Another lovely Venue, in fact The Royal Court is the Top Hotel in the Coventry Area. This was a great gig with a great audience who had come to enjoy themselves.  Being an annual reunion, they had already been at the Hotel for 24 hours and were understandably merry!  This makes any entertainers job much easier although it can have it's pitfalls.  In our case it was a lower life form who took exception to the music that we feature in our show (that is 1970's, 1960's, 1950's & 1940' ONLY).  No matter how many time we explained to him that we were booked to do what we were doing, he just wouldn't accept it.  Eventually he came back and  Verbally and Obscenely Abused Nikki.  Rest assured, this low life scum has been reported and we await his removal from The Fleet Air Arm Field Gun Association as soon as the matter has been fully investigated.

Saturday 22nd September 2007

Royal Court Hotel Coventry

21:00 'till 01:00

Invincible WO & CPO's '82 Association's Falklands re-union

Private Function

This was a great gig with a great audience and although the organization left a little bit to be desired it was a 100% brilliant evening for all in attendance, including the both of us,

 Friday 28th September 2007

Southwick Park Golf Club - Southwick - Hampshire

Casino Royale Evening

2000hrs 'till 0000hrs

Private Function

The best Venue in Hampshire bar none - Tonight was different! Although enjoyment abounded, Dancing didn't.  In our audience we had a fellow professional DJ who brought along a long list of bands, songs and singers for us to play.  We are pleased to say that, although we didn't play all of the requests on the two A4 pages, we did have them in our collection.  Much to his surprise

Saturday 20th October 2007

A Combined Golden Wedding and 40th Birthday Party

For Kathy and Reg and their Daughter Tracey

Langstone Hotel - Hayling Island - Hampshire

1930 hours until 2330 hours

Private Function

We first met the above family when we did Kathy's 70th Birthday party on Friday 11th August 2006.  It was a lovely evening and a good time was had by all.  However, on our return to The Langstone Hotel, although the majority of our audience were the same as last year, the difference was mind-blowing.  We could do no wrong and all too soon the end of the evening was upon us. We must mention also, the staff at The Langstone Hotel, who looked after us so well.  Thank you guys and Girls.

 Saturday 8th December 2007

Southwick Park Golf Club - Southwick - Hampshire

H.M.S. Ganges Association Christmas Ball

2000hrs 'till 0000hrs

Private Function

We arrived at the venue to discover that we had been double booked.  So we were paid the full fee, as per our contract, and returned home.  Not quite what we had anticipated but that's show business and as Nikki was suffering badly with a cold, for her it was a blessing. I, however, would much rather have been there earning my money than just collecting it for doing nothing.

What a brilliant start to our Christmas
We are very lucky to be able to say that the majority of our gigs are about as near perfect as anyone could wish for. However, tonight's gig was 100% perfect in every way possible.  Thank you Darren and all the staff at Southwick Park Golf Course for choosing Flickers Golden Oldies to entertain at all of their functions over the Christmas period.

 Friday 28th December 2007

Alexander Bowling Club, Northern Parade, Portsmouth, Hampshire

Golden (50th) Wedding Anniversary Party for John and B.L Backshell

1930hrs 'till 2330hrs

Private Function

We have worked for John and Barbara at Barbara's Birthday earlier in the year at Havant Royal British Legion.  What a great shame that they decided to change venues for their Golden Wedding Anniversary Party.  The Alexander Bowling Club, Northern Parade in Portsmouth has been bottom of the list for many years now on a website that can be accessed by Professional Entertainers wishing to find out about a venue before arriving.  Our visit this time was completely unbelievable -  We were forced to setup, not at the usual place on the concourse by the bar which has a solid floor, but actually ON the Sprung Dance floor!!! Oh, it gets worse.  The Kitchen door which was about half a metre from where we had to setup and when the Chef looked out and asked where he was to put the food we told him it was right at the other end of the hall where we should be setup!  His answer is totally unprintable......   Every time we have provided entertainment there, we have found the Steward and the majority of Staff, totally arrogant and bordering on the downright obstructive.  However, saying that, we managed to overcome the bouncy floor and had a marvellous time.

 Saturday 29th December 2007

Jubilee Hall, Bishops Waltham  Hampshire

Diamond (60th) Anniversary Party for Leslie & Ellen

1930hrs 'till 2330hrs

Private Function

Now this is what being a professional Entertainer is all about.
Tonight's gig was for two lovely people who were still very much in love after being married for 60 years.  Although the majority of the audience were far too young for the type of entertainment we provide, they went along with what we threw at them and at the end of the evening, all ended well.
